My name is Suzanne and I am going to tell you about how I became a driving instructor. My background was in the retail world where I was line manager for a major retailer. So, when the offer of redundancy came around, I decided to take it. As I had other ideas of what I wanted to do.
I had decided to do some holistic courses such as Indian head massage, hot stone massage and holistic healing. My initial plan was to get into the industry of holistic healing. During the period I had taken off to complete my courses.
I had several regular clients, but the business did not progress as quickly as I hoped for. So, I had to go back into the retail sector for seasonal work. I also had an opportunity to do a course for my security licenses.
I completed the course and I went into the corporate security world. The role was fascinating as I was learning new skills and meeting new people daily.
I knew then I wanted to be a Instructor
One day in work I saw a job advertisement for driving instructors. I made the call to the company and agreed a starting date. The driving instructor training I received was exceptional and well organised.
With my decision made to become a driving instructor I began my training to become an Approved Driving Instructor.
I passed each of the three training elements, the theory test, the driving test and the instruction ability test, first time. Once I was fully qualified ADI, I could now do everything I was trained to do. I really enjoy dealing with and meeting new people.
Meeting new people and helping them to drive is a new passion that I enjoy. After spending several years with this operator, I saw a Ladybird car in one of the test centres.
When I saw the Ladybird car it made me smile. So, when I was approached by the Ladybird to have a chat with them, I thought why not have a chat with them.
The one thing that peaked my interest was the fact that Ladybird Driving School was Irelands only all female driving school. And it gave me the opportunity to be my own boss and set out my daily diary to suit me and my needs.
Ladybird driving school is an exceptional setup with a professional work ethic.
So, at the beginning of July I embarked on my journey with Ladybird driving school. I had invested in my new white Ford fiesta, which I then had it kitted out with the Ladybird logo.
I was now a Ladybird out helping new drivers to get out on the road. The job offers a decent livelihood, flexibility and most of all job satisfaction as nothing beats the feeling of seeing somebody through their driving experience and go on to pass their test.
My diary is full week after week. There is great support, friendship and encouragement from all the Ladybird team.
If you are female and think been a driver instructor is for you why not call Ladybird Driving school and you never know this could be the start of something really exciting for you.
